The following reports were provided by the Directors at the Ordinary Meeting - 1 May 2019.

Secretary: 

  • Rotary Health Newsletter and District Newsletter distributed to members. 

 

Club Service:

  • A lot of work on public image
  • All members to get ClubRunner on their phones
  • Website is being updated.
  • Goal to launch new website at Change over Dinner
  • Melinda is looking after Friends of Rotary
  • Michael and Bronwyn are working on webpage

 

Community Service

  • Les has been practicing for Wyndham1000
  • John Selleck and Les are inviting the whole club to join them on their ride.
  • Tree planting on 11th May - 8:30 at 15 Priestley Ave.  Those joining should bring their own gloves, and water bottle.  Small snacks will be on offer during that day.
  • Anzac Day Gunfire lunch - 35kg of frozen bacon, 720 eggs, and 700 sausages.  15 members attended on 6 bbqs.  Catered for 700 people, but only 400 attended.  Maybe next year, we'll cater for 500
  • Left over sausages were taken to Bunnings and were given away for free.  Bunnings donated $240 worth of sausages and bread.  We raised $1150 profit.  $280.50 was donated to the Werribee hospital.
  • May 15 - Eagle Stadium BBQ, for intellectually handicap children.  Eddie, John and Rob will run the BBQ.
  • A 6wk Program will be run at the Cottage that will support Yr 11 & 12 students who have withdrawn from school.  We will support with two BBQs (fully sponsored by Woolworth). 
  • The huddle is a project of the Scanlon foundation.  Eva McKinley is now working for the Scanlon foundation.  We sponsored Eva on a Rotary Peace Scholarship to Hiroshima.
  • WERN:  Jordan consultant service (through Wendy) helped out with the BECO requirements.    Always looking for volunteers to assist on Tue/Wed/Thu between 10-2.

 

Youth Services:

  • youth camp.   A questionnaire will be distributed to members re future of camp.  Outcome to be shared to members by end of May.
  • Julie requested indication of who'll be joining for the book translation

 

Vocational Services

  • Trip to Parliament to be confirmed.

 

Announcements from the floor:

  • Peter Shephard (RC Altona) has kicked off his movie club to raise funds for foundation.  Next movie is "Rocket Man" in Yarraville (Thur 30 May, 6:45).  Please let Alan know ASAP.
