I just thought I’d give you a quick heads up around a piece of work Satya (from the JET Australia Foundation) and I have done in the past 24hrs.

Since his presentation at our Club a few weeks ago, I’ve been working closely with Satya to connect him with more Rotarians from around our District.  In fact, I was planning to introduce him to the Presidents of the Westside Cluster when I meet with them this coming Monday.

However, with the explosion of COVID cases within Shepparton, resulting in a large proportion of their population having to lockdown and isolate, many families are struggling to get access to basic necessities.

Satya and I reached out to my contacts in Tatura and we’ve arranged to send 2000 staple packs to the Shepparton area, including the surrounding areas of Mooroopna and Tatura which have a number of residents in huge remote farm lands that are cut-off from going into town due to stay-at-home orders.

Just as an aside, I thought that they were able to leave home to buy food (and other essential items), however, when they get into town, all the shops are closed because the people running the stores have been forced to stay home and isolate as well.

By way of cc, Rakesh, thank you for introducing us to Satya and the JET Australia Foundation.   My contacts in Tatura will certainly get Satya connected with other Service groups (inc Rotary) in that area so that they can continue providing support to those impacted by this lockdown.

Regards,
Michael.
